Gratitude (Resonate11/Reverb11 – Dec. 14)

Gratitude: What are the 5 things, people and moments you are grateful for in 2011?  What would you like to be grateful for in 2012? [Prompt from GeekinHard]

1.  Hubby: What can I say about him other than he is really amazing and the glue that holds me together. Before you think I’m going all STFU Friedan, let me say I don’t believe a woman should need a man to feel complete. I do, however, love having a man that makes my life completely more awesome.

We’ve been through some tough times together and, despite the total suckage that we’re dealing with in recent events, I wouldn’t want to go through it with anyone else. I’m grateful that he’s been right there with me. I’m grateful for his support through my ever-changing emotions and I’m grateful for his patience and understanding through all of this. It’s more than understanding, though. I can actually talk to him about it without fear of being judged or being dismissed as overly emotional. He may not always exactly understand what I’m feeling, but he respects that I am feeling it and will do whatever it takes to make it better. And if he can’t make it better, we can at least get through it. Together.

2.  Humor:  I’m grateful for humor because, without it, I don’t know what I would do. It may only be a temporary fix, but I’ll take it. Humor can come at weird times and be over the most random things — like creepy laughing babies in the Toys R Us aisle (I swear they were mocking me). I love it.

3. My friends on Twitter and in “real life” (and some which are both):  You guys rock. Thank you, especially, for helping me with #2.

4. My family:  Of course you can’t fail to mention your family on these types of lists or you’re a jerk. Not that I don’t mean it, but do I really need to explain? It’s family.

5. The Oatmeal.com:  Because, well, #2 again. If laughter is the best medicine then The Oatmeal could kill cancer.

I love your number 1. I love the way you talk about your man. The love, the respect, the gratitude. It rocks.

Number 2, seriously, I couldn’t do life without it. And humor comes at the worst possible times (during a funeral for instance) but if I didn’t have it, I couldn’t cope. How do people who have no sense of humor make it through life without gouging out their wrists with spoons?

    Number 3, You’re welcome. :)

Number 4, Shhh don’t tell anyone but sometimes I’m just not grateful for mine. I suck.

and five? I’ve never been to Oatmeal.com

Remedying that stat. ‘Cause if I get The Cancer (again) I’mma need the laughter.

You’ve NEVER been to The Oatmeal? *Gasp* One of my favorite sites — but I love sarcastic humor.

I agree, humor can come at the most random times (and bad times), but I don’t see how people can get by without it.
