Resonate 11: Make (Dec. 2)
I’ve decided to switch from #reverb11 to #resonate11. New year. New name. Why not? If you are interested in participating, please visit Resonating Reflections of 2011.
Make – December 2:
This is a two pronged prompt! What did you enjoy making this year? Did you “make the Dean’s list”? Or, maybe you made a really good wine, or maybe you made some furniture? And, what do you look forward to making during the holidays? Cookies? Homemade gifts?
Funny. This year (or at least the last part of the year) has been so focused on things that I can’t make. Actually, in all fairness, I can’t make a lot of things. Me and most craft projects? Yeah…no. We’re about as compatible as a weighted bag of kittens and a river and, frankly, the bag of kittens would come out far prettier than any of my “craft” projects. Most of the time, I end up dousing them with glitter glue/paint/spray and calling it a day. The craft projects. Not kittens.
But I’m talented in other ways. Just the other day, without Googling, I named a whole 16 U.S. Presidents in almost chronological order. I can identify most of the states (except for the ones in the middle) and I even know that Vermont is the capitol of Montpellier (which, I believe, is French for “Mountain of Pills”). I’m thinking about going on Jeopardy, but only if they let me write my own questions and when I win – because I will win – Alex Trebek makes it rain blue M&Ms.
A few more of my (real) “makes”:
Making tortillas as good as my mother-in-law (or at least that’s what I’m told)
This was one of the things Hubby told me I wasn’t likely going to be able to learn since his mom doesn’t really have “a recipe,” she just makes them. Little did he know that not following recipes is kind of my thing. It worked out perfectly.
Making a wreath out of Christmas light ties and tree trimmings
Yes, I know it’s not pretty. I haven’t put any Christmas bling on it and I’m not sure if
I will…BUT I MADE IT. Remember what I said about me and craft projects? Yeah. Somehow I managed to get everything together and it didn’t totally look like ass, which was especially impressive because I didn’t really have a template to go off of (I did have a template, but it didn’t really fit my needs so I scrapped it early on).
Those are a few of the most recent ones and, honestly, my brain dumps unnecessary information and memories after a few weeks. Have to make room for my impressive collection of U.S. History factoids.
And for the author of this question: Who the heck makes their own wine? If you do, I’m thinking we should totally be friends.

Alright, I think you win for naming 16 presidents in almost chronological order! Where did you start? Or, rather, with whom did you start?
Also, I think your wreathe is rather stunning in its own unique way, and that’s a good thing.
And, if you do go on jeopardy, I cannot wait to watch. But, don’t ask me to play trivial pursuit with you. My ex already clobbered me at that game that I don’t think there’s much left for you to clobber out of me… unless of course… you also know the Mayor’s of all the towns of the capitols of the states that you know….
I actually started at Obama and worked my way backwards. I did pretty well until Ford and then it got sketchy. I picked up again with the first (Washington) and started working my way back up. Forgot Adams, though. Both of them.
Josh made wine the day after Thanksgiving. He can teach you to do that if you teach me to make tortillas. I don’t think I could name 6 presidents, let alone in chronological order.
I suck.
Your wreath, super cute. Blinged out or not.
